Written by Harry Connick Jr., I Pray On Christmas may not be a classic, but it delivers real warmth, like the crackling fire in the background of his 1993 Christmas album cover. If you do end up scoping the album don’t let the signature 90’s center part, or the towering turtleneck turn you away. Harry is a musician’s musician who fights for the art. In the original version he carries the whole song on a piano with some help from a few background singers. The Woolly Family, made up of musicians affiliated with Woolly Records, tried to keep the warmth of the tune in tact, with the warmest glow coming from the gospel, which rests at the epicenter of the song, and our favorite season.
